FULL SPY ARTICLE @ INSIDELINE.COM: www.edmunds.com Seems like just yesterday we were getting the lowdown on the refreshed 2009 Porsche Boxster. As usual, the exterior changes were minor, but new engines gave it considerably more punch. The prototype you see here is an early development mule for the next-generation 2011 Porsche Boxster. Again, it appears to have few changes on the outside. A new set of side mirrors and some minor reshaping of the front fascia are the only noticeable differences. It also appears to be slightly wider in back, but that could be nothing more than heavy camouflage. Much of the speculation around this car has focused on the possibility of four-cylinder power. Last November, a report in Autocar claimed that this Boxster would be the most economical Porsche ever thanks to a new turbocharged, four-cylinder engine. Its displacement would be roughly 2.4 to 2.5 liters and it would make just over 200 horsepower. If that’s the case, the prototypes we caught on the Nürburgring weren’t the new base model. The exhaust note sounds too similar to the current six-cylinder Boxsters, and we don’t hear any turbocharger sounds either. Regardless of which engines this new Boxster features, a weight reduction program is expected. Porsche needs to get the carbon footprint of its sports cars under control or it will face a tough road meeting new emissions standards in the US Who knows how the company is going to attack the same problem when it comes to the Cayenne? With sales of the 2011 Boxster still two years away, we don’t expect to see the final production version of this car in public until late next year.
My parents burn coal in the fire in the evening, I’m trying to get them to burn wood because wood is not a fossil fuel, because wood is friendlier to the ozone layer! Their argument against this is that wood doesn’t last long, whereas coal can last all night.
They also burn oil for central heating and I asked them if it would be possible to consider Solar Panels yet they say that they can not afford it, which is understandable.
Does anyone have any ideas at all that I can pitch to my parents to save energy and to reduce their carbon footprint. Any ideas at all! Even something as simple as "turn off unnecessary lights".
Thanks to everyone who replys =D

I would consider it a conservative agenda but the conservative republicans portray it as tree hugging liberal ideas. It does force corporations to more accountable. Conserving the environment… and forcing companies to be more accountable for their actions… I would think fits in with conservative republican morals but apparently I am wrong. Why do we have to rely on liberal leadership to conserve our environment?
It's either this or abstinence. I doubt that any school that teaches abstinence as a birth control method will be adding this alternative option to the curriculum any time soon

www.sybase.com We are here today at the Guinness World Record Headquarters in New York City, and I am with Kathleen Shaub and Irfan Khan. My name is Danny Girton. I am one of the judges at Guinness World Records, and, on behalf of Guinness World Records, it is with great pleasure that we welcome Sybase, Sun and BMM Soft into the World Records family for the worlds largest data warehouse. We congratulate everyone in this record breaking achievement. Thank you, Danny. On behalf of Sybase and our partners, Sun and BMM Soft, I would like to say how honored we really are to join the Guinness family and be part of the 2009 records. If fact, I would like to thank everybody who has been involved with Sybase IQ and this project since its inception, all the developers, the QA teams and all of the customers. Its really been a great experience and we are very proud to be here. Sybase and partners just achieved the world record for the largest data warehouse, thats incredible. Why is this so important? Whats behind this record? Well, today if you take a look at most organizations, they store terabytes of data. We need to give them some future proofing so as they are growing their businesses, and the amounts of data that they physically store, this will absolutely get towards toward the petabyte level. We are actually getting together, we have worked with our partners, a road map and, at the same time, some future proofing of technologies to be able to support and sustain that level of data. Just how big is a petabyte? Well, to give you an idea of scale, its about 6 trillion stock quotes or the contents of about a thousand academic libraries. It has a 1 with 15 zeros after it. Its a pretty big number. That is an incredible amount of data. That must take tons of computer space. Well actually, if we used a conventional database for this record, it would have taken 29 tons of storage hardware to hold all that information. But, we used Sybase IQ, a column based database, which compresses, and so we used only 85% of that amount. Possibly even more importantly, we were able to reduce the carbon emissions from this data warehouse by over 90%. What was the data warehouse made of? Danny, we loaded one petabyte of raw data into a column based database, Sybase IQ, and then we ran that on the Sun M9000 service. Now, this has given us some tremendous capacity because, when you combine that with the BMM Soft column based management suite, we get a great solution and a great data warehouse experience.
