RAIL BRITANNIA - Save UK from the Victorian Era
The future is rail, not road. That is the key message of the newly launched Rail Britannia Campaign that, today, makes its youtube debut. When it comes to the movement of goods into and within the UK, the message of the video is clear - rail rules over road. Putting increased rail infrastructure utilisation and development for freight at the top of the government’s agenda is a must with this summer’s most heated call for strategic national rail improvements within the UK. The video features Britain’s leading transport commentator, Christian Wolmar, interviewing Martyn Pellew, Group Development Director for PD Ports. The two men discuss the development of northern England through UK port and rail infrastructure Pellew focuses on the need to upgrade the uk’s rail infrastructure, especially along the strategically placed East Coast Mainline. Broader investment in rail and freight on rail, will help revitalise the economy through the creation of more than 5000 new jobs, as well as benefit the environment by significantly reducing the number of lorries being used on the already congested roads.
