Carbon Credits: Bum Life Special

Posted by admin on Mar-21-2010

en.wikipedia.org Carbon credits are a key component of national and international emissions trading schemes. They provide a way to reduce greenhouse effect emissions on an industrial scale by capping total annual emissions and letting the market assign a monetary value to any shortfall through trading. Credits can be exchanged between businesses or bought and sold in international markets at the prevailing market price. Credits can be used to finance carbon reduction schemes between trading partners and around the world. There are also many companies that sell carbon credits to commercial and individual customers who are interested in lowering their carbon footprint on a voluntary basis. These carbon offsetters purchase the credits from an investment fund or a carbon development company that has aggregated the credits from individual projects. The quality of the credits is based in part on the validation process and sophistication of the fund or development company that acted as the sponsor to the carbon project. This is reflected in their price; voluntary units typically have less value than the units sold through the rigorously-validated Clean Development Mechanism[1].

google search the YouTube video titled:
“PROTEST-Indigenous Peoples “2nd MAY REVOLT” at the UNPFII”

  3. HistoricThirdWard Said,

    Thanks…

  4. DanyDizzay Said,

Luke! there is nothing wrong with this internet back and forth other then you. The author made a fucking movie for you to see the point. Try to get it.

  5. HistoricThirdWard Said,

    Thanks…

  6. drabshadspads Said,

    Carbon Credits….HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. HistoricThirdWard Said,

“Might effect change” is a politically correct term for force. Comrade

  8. luke180 Said,

Um… yeah sure. Thats not quite the angle I was running on. Complete nonsensical internet discussion topic jumping I mean.

Not interesting or worth while what-so-ever. Just another bullshit post sequence! Hopefully your also bringing your views and theories to other communities where you might effect change. Bro

  9. HistoricThirdWard Said,

People will soon justify the killing of people or at least approve of not allowing certain people to breed. Pay attention…I hope we continue dicussing this far into the future. Until another crazy campaign wipes itself out.

  10. HistoricThirdWard Said,

    Carbon Credits = Tariffs

One day, I will leave this planet to travel to another planet. I will get very far away from this environmental services markets bullshit. This is no different than Mao, no different than Hitler. It’s Eugenics in a new form. Complete bullshit will lots of followers.

  11. luke180 Said,

Hurting trade…? When has the trade of any ‘good’ hurt trade? Could you source this statement?

What we define as a value which can be traded can change, and will change. Youtube as an example is something which can be traded although it does not materially exist - good luck explaining that one to Columbus.

For pure discussions sake; I truely believe that environmental services markets will be a huge part of our future, and are a necessary step towards market driven climate change address.

  12. HistoricThirdWard Said,

Especially when you pay someone else off who has the potential to industrialize and do better things in business and the world.

What if the Queen of Spain would have told Columbus to wait until he has enough carbon credits to go find India? The North didn’t have enough carbon credits saved up to go to war with the South in the Civil War? We should never have sent a man to the moon unless Africa promised to never fully industrialize?

  13. HistoricThirdWard Said,

Carbon credits are more like collecting money for supposed environmental sins rather than religious sins. If people only did business with environmentally friendly businesses, people who make up jobs for themselves (like coming up with carbon credits) would not be scaring everyone into believing.

Many taxes are unnecessary and never resolve their intended purpose. Tariffs are no longer popular since they restrict trade. Carbon credits will only hurt trade instead of supporting trade.

  14. luke180 Said,

Carbon credits are a way we can put a market value on ‘emissions’ created by industry, for example, who then have to pay others who ’store’ those emissions in trees, for example. Attempting to balance the global emission levels through the only way people actually respond - money.

Trading in carbon emissions is just the start since there are far more serious environmental issues facing humans. Although its arguably moving in the right direction?

    Possibly?

  15. HistoricThirdWard Said,

Look up carbon credits…it will blow your mind…it’s like scientology for environmentalists…

  16. gungrave4ever Said,

I don’t know what carbon credits are, but I imagine they have something to do with body decay. Either way, I was rather amused by this video, even if there’s something I’m not getting.

  17. dnicholsoncole Said,

well she behaves like the worst kind of rich, kicking snow in the face of the homeless person. In terms of ‘conveying an idea’ in the video, this is what you have conveyed. Your video isnt meant to attack homeless for not working, its meant to attack those who think they can continue burning energy and producing pollution as long as others are ‘paying for it’ with their carbon credits.

  18. HistoricThirdWard Said,

She doesn’t have to be rich to pay others for their carbon credits. She just has to believe in the myth of carbon credits and convince others to as well.

  19. dnicholsoncole Said,

Youre missing the point now.. I thought you meant something in the nationality.
What she seems now to be is a rich american (of asian ethnic origin) who is being totally selfish and mocking the poor guy for not having national health or help. also dishonest, as not handing him the 20dollars.

  20. HistoricThirdWard Said,

She’s not Japanese either, keep trying.

  21. HistoricThirdWard Said,

It’s like in the old days when only the witch doctor could go up on the burial mound. The rest of the village must do their “duty” and never question the actions of the witch doctor. Back then, they didn’t have Nobel Prizes for Peace or Academy Awards to give witch doctors. Awards and pompous ceremonies are now a much better way to convince the masses they are common people and must remain as such.

  22. dnicholsoncole Said,

For someone who has made a movie making a valid point, you appear to have gone suddenly a bit loopy. I thought we were having a debate. Now you seem to be dragging up a pointless argument against Al, that he has to travel in order to deliver lectures. It has been a more worthwhile investment than your waterskiing, which will never win an oscar or a nobel prize.

  23. HistoricThirdWard Said,

When you speak of duty, do you mean “force” or “new age brainwashing”? I’m not going to limit myself so Al Gore can fly all over the world to accept awards for being a spokesman. If Al really cared, he would be more like Big Brother, communicating through telescreens. Big AL is Watching YOU!

  24. HistoricThirdWard Said,

My friends drink out of glass beer bottles every weekend while I drink water out of a Nalgene bottle. Since they are adding to global warming created by the waste heat of recycling, I am fully justified in using fossil fuels to waterski. If we use up all fossil fuels, that’s an incentive to find other means of fuel. I don’t think electric boats been invented yet?

  25. dnicholsoncole Said,

If she is japanese, that slightly loses the point as no american jobs are being outsourced to Japan. JP is one of the highlevel consumer economies that needs to pay poor countries in africa etc for carbon credits. Your analogy isnt about the country she comes from, its about the shift of economic production and consumption to the far east (or the the western side of the pacific rim - as it crosses the dateline, we cant call it that).
