  1. Genealogy Said,

In the 70's we had left over shows like Bonanza, Gun Smoke things were close to changing over to more variety shows like Sonny and Cher, Carol Burnett, Flip Wilson, Every sunday night there was a disney movie. there were little to no shows for children until the mid or late 80's. Tv came on at 6 am and went off at midnight. There was no MTV or all night news, weather etc. News only lasted for about 15 minutes. 3. the_lipsiot Said,

Environmentalism had not kicked off in the 1970s and people had only just become aware of the impact we were having on our environment. Global warming was unknown and the hole in the ozone layer had not been shown to be increasing.

Laws that were effecting the environment were really those put in place to prevent dangerous chemicals (like DDT) being released.

TV in the 70s was brilliant. There were some real classics like Bronowski's "Ascent of Man", Alistair Cooke's "America" and Attenborough's "Living Planet". Kids programmes were led by "Bagpuss", which regularly wins the best children's programme ever vote.

Trend-wise - three major trends. Realism (dramas became more true to life), non-PC (comedies poked fun at race and sex), and the 70's saw the beginnings of the blockbuster documentaries (as mentioned above).

    Good luck with your project.
