The students, who also make up a for-credit Action Research Team on campus, regularly collect and measure food waste in the dining halls and are using that information to begin educating fellow students on the need to reduce waste and funnel resources to more organic and sustainable food choices. Thats a really interesting study.
Hope the chefs aren’t too disheartened by the fact so much is seemingly thrown away.
    But yeh real interesting job.

  3. alexnagy Said,

You should consider taking away the trays in dining halls. We did it at our campus, UCI, and its saved a lot of energy that would normally go into cleaning them. Also it discourages students from piling food on and eventually wasting most of it because they can eat only what they can carry away from the food bar.

    yeah it is sad =/

  5. trptsklz Said,

Wow, that was amazing. I saw what looked like almost whole chicken dinners just being tossed in those garbage bags. I myself have actually wondered how much food gets thrown away here in the West where abundance is taken for granted.
I always find myself feeling really bad afterwards when i throw out anything, even if it’s bones.
Very good video, casting a light on a sad aspect of our culture.
